We review how you are responding and adjust your plan when needed.
Your physiotherapy assessment
Back pain often improves within weeks, but recurrent pain or difficulty with daily activities can warrant assessment.
Your assessment is the starting point for an individual plan. You do not need to choose a treatment yourself - we’ll discuss the options at your visit.
What to discuss at your assessment
- When the pain started and whether it has changed
- How sitting, walking, lifting or sleeping affects you
- Activities you want to return to and any previous treatment
- Relevant medical history and medicines you currently take
- Questions or concerns you want to discuss about your care

Directions and contact detailsBefore your appointment
What happens at the first visit?
You will discuss your symptoms, their history and your goals. Your physiotherapist will assess you and discuss a plan with you. Treatment is selected according to your individual circumstances.
What should I bring?
Bring relevant medical documents and details of previous treatment. If you are unsure which session length to choose, ask before arranging a visit.
How many visits will I need?
Your plan depends on the assessment, your goals and progress. The name of a condition alone does not determine a fixed number of visits.
The clinic will agree and confirm your appointment date and time with you.
